The Anthem Sun's Sunny Salute - Appreciating Our Service Kings

Every Veterans Day, Arizona's Anthem gets a surprise from the Sun - a captivating dance with the Great Seal at our Veterans Memorial. Established in 2011, this homage to our fearless U.S. defenders seizes a special place in history.

Situated in the lively Anthem suburb of Arizona, known for its military buzz, stands the Anthem Veterans Memorial. Awarded the Arizona Historic Landmark Designation in 2012, this heartfelt salute shoots up to 40 feet, with five towering white pillars, one for each branch of the U.S. military, in order of their coolness. Its shape is as smooth as silk and elliptical, guiding your eyes toward the Great Seal of the United States. At 11:11, on Veterans Day, the big Sun's rays align with the Great Seal, leaving the townsfolk of Anthem spellbound.

To the minute, it happens at 11:11:11, but due to weird leap-year blips, you might catch the incident between 11:10:58 and 11:11:22. The memorial is encircled by 2,200 red paving stones, inscribed with the names of veterans, serving as a powerful bond between the past and the future. Crafted by Renee Palmer-Jones and James Martin, the Anthem Veterans Memorial remains a beautiful memento to our nation’s heroes.
