Ida's Edible Estate: A 19th-century Swedish confectioner's dream for newlyweds

The Ida's Edible Estate, or Sockerslottet in Swedish, was built in 1898 for Jonas Andersson's daughter Ida before her marriage to Conrad Fristedt. In 2001, it was awarded the title of the most beautiful building in Värmland County during the architecture year. Declared a historical building in 1993, it still retains its original qualities. Its modern conveniences include gas lights, dry closets, and even a bakery for the newlyweds. Olof W Nilsson painted elaborate murals inside. The caretaker's quarters and coal storage rooms can still be found in the cellar.
