Alright, lemme tell ya somethin' 'bout the Big Apple, New York City, it's got a nifty surprise nestled in the heart o' Central Park. That's where you'll find our dear-departed friend, Sir Walter Scott, the famous Scottish wordsmith. This bronze beauty's a dead ringer for the original sculpture in Edinburgh's Scott Monument, and was a masterpiece handcrafted by none other than Scottish sculptor, John Steell. What's more, this statue was a gift from the local Scottish-Americans to the park. The dedication took place on November 27, 1872, and both sculpture and base were shipped over from the land o' rabbits and bagpipes, Scotland. The statue now stands tier-high in the Central Park, close as a cousin to the 72nd Street transverse.
