The Lone Tower of Barbici, alternatively referred to as the Torre della Regina or Torre di Punta Teja, stands singular among Capraia Island's unspoiled four coastal sentinels. Crafted by the Genoese in 1699, its purpose lies in the monitoring and repelling of corsair invasions. Its distinctive square base renders it as the exclusive island-born anomaly among the unspoiled Capraia Island's coastal watchtowers. Today, the structure endures, dented and unrestored, serving as a melancholic epitaph to time's and nature's cruelty. Originally, it exchanged messages with other towers through smoke signals, but now, it stands apart, its square-based design, a visually incomplete mystery.
