Sinking: Emily P. Weed's Submerged Journey, 1890-1905

From Allouez to Sand Island, a voyage took a bumpy dive. Emily P. Weed wasn't part of the crew that bailed, swishing in the drink instead.

In the year 1890, Emily P. Weed embarked on a voyage, leaving Allouez, Wisconsin for Erie, Pennsylvania. However, on the 1st of September, 1905, her travel took an unlikely detour. Sand Island was her new destination. By the day's end, she was bisected. The team abandoned ship, leaving the rest of her to. well, rest at the bottom. They crafted a raft using hatch covers and doors, while the bow sunk into the depths. That very night, three more vessels mysteriously vanished at sea. In the year 1909, the US Army Corps of Engineers decided to obliterate Emily P. Weed with explosives, leaving a few remnants. Later, the erstwhile Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin, Sam Fifield, salvaged the remainders to build the Sevona Memorial Cottage. It survived to this day.
