The Castle of Miranda de Ebro, situated on Picota hill, offers a strategic location. Begun in 1449, towards the end of the 15th century, during the late medieval period, it served as a significant military stronghold throughout various conflicts in Spanish history, including the Wars of the Spanish Succession and regional skirmishes. Today, only portions of the north wall remain visible, including the King's Battery and the Queen's Battery, due to the city council's decision to dismantle the castle in 1903. Still, the castle was later protected under the generic Declaration of the Decree of 22 April 1949.
