Roman-origin aqueduct system with 20 arches in Rambla de Carcauz

The Roman-origin aqueduct system with 20 arches in Rambla de Carcauz is a testament to the ingenuity and engineering skills of the ancient Romans. The system, believed to have been built between the 2nd and 1st century BC, supplied water to rural villas in Poniente Almeriense for six centuries until the early 20th century. Although the exact date of its construction is unknown, much of the water it originally collected is still transported through modern plastic tubes. Among the three aqueducts that make up the system, the Acueducto de los 20 ojos is the most known, located near populated areas. The other two aqueducts are often overlooked due to the easy accessibility of the Acueducto de los 20 ojos.
