Located on Via Carbonile in Mongiana, the Fonderia di Mongiana was a part of the larger Polo siderurgico di Mongiana, built during the Kingdom of Naples in the 18th century. The foundry was built in 1783 to replace an original, wooden structure likely containing a single furnace. The foundry occupied more than 2000 square meters. In 1874, the main body of the foundry measured 38 x 18 meters. Today, the Fonderia di Mongiana is one of the archaeological sites belonging to the Ecomuseo delle ferriere e fonderie di Calabria and since August 2019, the MUFAR.
