Rånäs Manor: From Reuterskiöld's Residence to a Modern Hotel

In Uppland, central Sweden, Rånäs Manor was constructed in 1883 as a residence for the Reuterskiöld family in the Second Empire style, designed by Per Axel Nyström. Replacing an 18th-century manor demolished for the current structure, the manor is known for its 1774 charter which allowed for the production of 1,500 ship pounds of bar iron annually. However, in 1932, Stockholm City converted the manor into a mental hospital marking a change in its grandeur. In 1996, the manor was acquired by two private individuals for restoration, and since 1998, Rånäs Manor serves as a hotel and conference center, allowing guests to glimpse into its history.
