Husby-Långhundra Church: The Century-Old Secret Beneath

Husby-Långhundra Church, located along Långhundraleden beside Riksväg 77 between Uppsala and Norrtälje, holds a centuries-old secret. The church, built in the Romanesque style (though not as early as the 1100s), was extended to the east around year 1500, at which time sakristias and sanctuaries, both with flat eastern walls, were added. The windows of the original church were probably enlarged as early as the second half of the 1200s. Further enlargement of the windows took place in 1751 and 1815, when they received their current shape. The church, before its restoration, lived through a series of renovations and restorations, as is attested by the alterations it has undergone.

The church, built in the 15th century, has survived through the centuries, but its history is not silent. It has undergone numerous renovations and restorations over the past 800 years, leaving a testament to its resilience.
