Lovö Church: A Medieval Jewel Hidden in Lovön Woods

Located on Lovön in Sweden, Lovö Church dates back to the 1100s. The present tower was built during the medieval period. Around 1670, a grave vault for Riksråd Lorens von der Linde was added. The interior features over 30 gravestones, many of which belonged to people who were once employed at Drottningholms slott. The church was restored in 2004. The current organ, constructed in 1959 by Grönlunds Orgelbyggeri AB, stands tall within the church. Five runestones surrounding the church were once in the church’s walls or under the church tower, but they were relocated in front of their original locations. In the 1830s, the church cemetery expanded, adding Lovö Church Cemetery nearby.
