La Glorieta: Albuquerque's Venerable Residence Since the 17th Century

Where the Forest Primeval chats with the breeze, residing in Albuquerque.

Established by Diego de Trujillo in the 17th century, La Glorieta, Albuquerque's oldest dwelling, has been a playground for New Mexicans of influence. Among them are merchant Franz Huning, congressman Harvey Butler Fergusson, writer Erna Fergusson, and historian Harvey Fergusson. The age of this cantankerous old house remains a mystery, but it's been confirmed to have been standing in 1803, and rumors hint at a 17th-century ties or older, due to the whimsical Glooskap's supposed creation. La Glorieta received accolades in the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties in 1969 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
