Església de Santa Creu: Baroque Retablo Major and Crypt of Sant Llorenç

Santa Creu church, located in Palma, Mallorca, is one of the oldest parishes in the city. Its extraordinary vaulted ceiling and apse-shaped side chapels make it the second most important in terms of its eclesiastical rank. The church houses several intriguing features. One of these is the images of Santa Helena and the Virgin of Carme in the retablo mayor, which is from the Baroque era, not Gothic as previously stated. Another is the sepulchre of Antoni Barceló i Pont de la Terra, popularly known as Capità Toni, in the side chapels. Constructed in the 14th century, the church was funded by the bishop of Barcelona and boasts an impressive organ, one of the largest in Mallorca. The crypt of Sant Llorenç, located at the presbytery, is a fascinating part of the church and dates from the end of the 13th century.
