Delizia di Belriguardo

Delizia di Belriguardo

Experience a taste of the past at Delizia di Belriguardo, a 15th-century delight used as a retreat by the Este family. Its elaborate architecture, beautiful gardens, and historical significance make it a must-visit.

Delizia di Belriguardo is the headquarters of the Museo civico di Belriguardo. It was built by Niccolò III d'Este in the 15th century and served as a retreat for the Este family, particularly Lucrezia Borgia who frequently stayed there. For centuries, the palace has been known for its exquisite architecture and beautiful gardens, reminiscent of early Renaissance Italian garden design. In 1493, Ludovico il Moro wrote a letter to Beatrice d'Este about the palace: '.Non voria per cosa del mondo esser manchato de venire perché ho veduto tanto grande casa, tanto bella et bene intesa et cussì ornata de picture excellentissime, che non credo ch’el mondo abia una simile.'.
