Cathedral of Santa Maria in Tui

The Cathedral of Santa Maria in Tui, Spain is a late-Romanesque and Gothic-style Roman Catholic church. Its construction began at the end of the 11th century, taking inspiration from other churches in the Miño valley. The West facade, completed in the early 13th century, is of Gothic style and is considered the first major ensemble of Gothic sculpture on the Iberian Peninsula. The main gate is attributed to French stonemasons and is flanked by two towers that feature intricate sculptures. A portico was built around 1250, extending the sacred space of the temple towards the square. The cloister was built in the second half of the 13th century in the Cistercian Gothic style.
