Discovering Medelhavsmuseet: Hidden wonders in Stockholm's ancient heart

The Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities, or Medelhavsmuseet, is located in central Stockholm. Established in 1954 by combining the Swedish Museum of Egyptian Antiquities and the Cyprus Collection, the museum houses one of the largest Cyprus collections outside of Cyprus, of great scholarly value. Besides Egypt and Cyprus, Medelhavsmuseet also offers collections of Greek and Roman antiquities, near eastern antiquities from Shah Tepe, Luristan bronzes, and Islamic art. Notable among its collections is a group of eight mummified ancient Egyptians, including the priest Neswaiu.
