A 11th-century foundation in France: Abbaye de Seuilly

Abbaye de Seuilly, located in the town of Seuilly (Indre-et-Loire), is an 11th-century foundation. Founded around 1095 by Guillaume de Montsoreau, the priory later became an abbey under various names: Saint-Pierre, Saint-Sépulcre, and finally Notre-Dame. The cellars, dating from the 12th to the 15th century, the vaulted rooms of the conventual buildings, the chapel, and the dovecote are listed as historic monuments since April 26, 1948.
