Completed in 1909, the Fleming Building is located at 6th Avenue 218 in Des Moines, Iowa. The structure rises 174 feet above the ground and is recognized as one of the earliest steel-framed buildings in Iowa.
The Chicago architectural firm of D.H. Burnham and Company designed the building in the early Commercial style. Elements of the Beaux-Arts style are found in the building's proportions and details, which is typical of the Burnham Company's work.
The Fleming Building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. It remains a historic commercial building that preserves its architectural heritage from the late 19th and 20th centuries.
