A stone with a Viking-era rune inscription outside Furingstads church

One of five rune stones dating to the early 1000s, Östergötlands runinskrifter 148 stands outside Furingstads church in Norrköpings kommun, Sweden. The rune stone is 1.42 meters high and made of light gray granite. The rune inscription, 'Helga reisti stein þenna eptir Ásmund, son sinn.' or 'Helga rested denna sten efter Asmund, sin son.' in English translation, tells the story of a man and his son. The rune stone was previously installed in the western tower foot's stone base, and the design of the sling's ends places the engraving in stylistic group RAK. The rune stone was carved in light gray granite.
