Henric Kalmeter’s Mansion - Los kyrka: A Hidden Oasis in Sweden's Woodlands

In the heart of Sweden's ancient woodlands, Los kyrka unfolds a centuries-old history. Originally, services were held in Henric Kalmeter’s mansion. The church was constructed between 1818 and 1819 and was later redrawn by Johan Adolf Hawerman in 1848, credited for the tower design that year. White-painted walls, rectangular window openings, and a historicized style are all thanks to his designs. Inside, the altarpiece and pulpit were added a decade after the church's completion, alongside a baptismal font sculpted by Olof Ahlberg in 1953.

Six portraits from the 18th century, now owned by the church, are also part of its history. The current organ, built in 1946 by Harald Lindegren, boasts a tone range of 56/30 and two free combinations. It was renovated in 1970 and 1982 by Gunnar Carlsson. Los kyrka remains a serene sanctuary amidst the forest, where the echoes of the past continue to resonate.
