The Monument aux morts de l'Armée d'Orient et des terres lointaines, or the Porte d'Orient, is a World War 1 memorial situated on Kennedy Corniche in Marseille, dedicated to the soldiers who died in the Army of Orient fighting on the Eastern front. Erected according to the plans of architect Gaston Castel and inaugurated on April 24, 1927, the monument underwent an extensive restoration which was completed in 2020 for an estimated cost of 1.05 million euros.
Technicaly classified as a historical monument since May 24, 2011, many Marseillais are unaware of its existence, as it seems to be a half-forgotten memory of a memory.
