Vortigern's hillfort: a beacon in the Welsh landscape

Craig Gwrtheyrn, also known as Caer Gwrtheyrn, is an Iron Age hillfort on the south side of the River Teifi, about 1.2 miles (1.9 km) west of the village of Llanfihangel-ar-Arth, in Carmarthenshire, Wales. This hillfort, situated amidst the verdant landscapes of Carmarthenshire, has a captivating association with the 5th-century British warlord Vortigern. While some historians argue that Vortigern may be a mythical figure, numerous historical accounts across the centuries portray him in diverse ways.
