The Bullring: A major cricket stadium in Illovo

Located in Illovo, Johannesburg, the DP World Wanderers Stadium has hosted world record scores and international cup finals since 1956.

Situated in Illovo, Johannesburg, the DP World Wanderers Stadium is a cricket ground situated just south of Sandton. Built in 1956 to replace the Old Wanderers Stadium, it serves as the home ground for the Imperial Lions and the Joburg Super Kings. The stadium was completely overhauled following South Africa's readmission to international cricket in 1991.

The venue has a seating capacity of 34,000 and is nicknamed 'The Bullring' due to its design and intimidating atmosphere. In 1996, five new 65-metre-high floodlight masts were installed to enable day-night limited-overs cricket. The stadium hosted a rugby union test match in April 1980 between South Africa and the South American Jaguars while Ellis Park Stadium was being redeveloped.

Significant sporting events have taken place here, including the 2003 Cricket World Cup final and the 2007 T20 World Cup final. It hosted the 2009 Indian Premier League final and the finals of the Champion League Twenty20 in 2010 and 2012. In 2015, AB de Villiers broke records for the fastest ODI half-century and century while playing against the West Indies. The 2027 Cricket World Cup final is also scheduled to be held at the stadium.
