The watchtower that withstood the church

The old church of Paimpol no longer exists, but the tower-clock from 1784 remains. It outlasted the old parish and now stands as the lone sentinel, telling the time for all. The square base up to the spire is made of stone cubes, with square foundations. On two sides it is flanked by towers of stairs, and it is crowned by a gallery. The octagonal spire, which is also made of stone, can be seen atop the tower. The tower-clock was classified as a historical monument in 1916. The old church was destroyed in the early 20th century. Only the tower-clock remains from the old church.
