On the Mesa Mota near San Cristóbal de La Laguna, the International Tenerife Memorial stands as a spiral staircase connecting the earth and sky.

On the Mesa Mota on the outskirts of the city of San Cristóbal de La Laguna on the island of Tenerife, the International Tenerife Memorial March 27, 1977, stands as a tribute to the 583 victims of the airport disaster. From this location, one can see the views of Los Rodeos airport and, on clear days, the silhouette of Mount Teide.

The 18-metre-high structure was designed by the Dutch artist Rudi van de Wint. It is shaped like a spiral staircase, with steps that connect the earth and sky, serving as a memorial to those who lost their lives on March 27, 1977.

The monument was inaugurated on March 27, 2007, marking the 30th anniversary of the disaster. It was unveiled in the presence of many relatives of those killed in the accident.
