Nestled in the heart of Enterprise, Alabama, the Boll Weevil Monument, standing at a bulky 1300 pounds, stands as the town's peculiar landmark. Originally erected on December 11, 1919, in the town square, the statue honors the unlikely hero that uprooted the area's cotton crops. It now represents a female figure, arms outstretched and a trophy aloft, topped by an oversized boll weevil. In the mid-20th century, this unconventional monument found a new home, relocated to the Pea River Historical and Genealogical Society’s Gift Shop, to prevent any further shenanigans. However, it's worth noting that the statue was moved again, in 2019, to protect it from the pranks it attracted as a town square resident.
