In North Plains, Georgia, a 13-foot structure grins persistently. Jimmy Carter, initially unfavorable, found this Peanut Monument adopted as the town's logo. Crafted by the Indiana Democratic Party in 1976, this appeared as the Jimmy Carter Peanut Statue, constructed from wooden hoops, chicken wire, aluminum foil, and polyurethane. It's the second tallest of its kind globally. Since its debut in 1976, it's been decorating Plains and even earned a spot on America's top 50 roadside attractions in 2010.
