Tis the Palace of the Kings of Majorca, Perpignan's Grand Old Castle! What

Step back in time to the days of medieval royalty and relic architecture at the Palace of the Kings of Majorca, where history meets the present in Perpignan, France.

Constructed between 1276 and 1309 during the reign of King James II of Majorca, this 3-heritage-level castle served as the political hub for the Kingdom of Majorca until 1349. Though it wasn't the location for the Sigismund-led conference of 1415, it did welcome many European leaders who attended the event. Now, the chapel nestled within the royal apartments, sharing resemblances with the chapels in Mallorca and the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, serves as a stage for the Guitares au Palais music festival each August. This annual musical gathering showcases a spectrum of guitar music styles, ranging from traditional to flamenco, classical to gypsy, and pop to jazz, with exceptionally talented performers gracing its stage.
