The Portal de France is an element of the ancient fortifications of Céret, in the Pyrénées-Orientales. This historic city gate, located near Place de la République and facing Rue du même nom, is one of the few surviving elements of the town's fortified past. The old fortified enclosure of Céret and the Portal de France were built between the 13th and 15th centuries, and the Portal de France was inscribed on the supplementary inventory of historical monuments by a decree of November 16, 1949. Today, it stands as a symbol of Céret's past, a remnant of a time long gone.
