The cottage, today rented as office spaces, is hidden and embedded among office complexes on Liljeholmsvägen 16. The culturally protected property was built during the 1770s and consists of a main building and two wings.
The story tells that Count Axel von Fersen d.y. is said to have stopped here in June 1810 while participating in Crown Prince Charles Augustus' funeral procession. Only a few hours later, Count Axel von Fersen d.y. was lynched by the mob in the aftermath following Crown Prince's death, where Count Axel von Fersen d.y. was accused of involvement in Crown Prince's death.
It is also said that Carl Östberg, who purchased the cottage in 1822, used to let King Charles XIV John (reigned between 1818-1844) stop over at Katrineberg to 'make toilet' before further journey towards the royal capital via Hornstull.
