Tovey Battery was an artillery battery in the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar. The site is named after Colonel Tovey, who led the Royal Artillery during the Great Siege of Gibraltar and died there in November 1781.
By the end of the nineteenth century, Tovey Battery possessed two 6 inch guns. These were part of fourteen available guns used for close range defense. In 1911, the importance of Tovey's role led to the closure of the inferior Hayne's Cave Battery, which only had 4 inch guns.
The battery continued to serve in later conflicts. Tovey Battery had two six inch guns during World War II.
