Porte Bab Doukkala, also known as Bab Sidi Bouzerqtoun or Bab Asfi, is a historic fortified gate located in the northeastern part of the city. Built during the 18th century, it serves as one of the main gates of the medina and holds great significance as the entrance to the port and the main commercial market.
The gate was constructed during the 18th century in the same period as the city walls. It served as a primary crossing toward the city of Asfi and the Doukkala region. It was classified as a historical site in 1924 and underwent restoration in 2006.
Architecturally, the gate features semi-circular arches connected to plastered stone walls made of clay, topped with square-shaped walls. The exterior of the gate is rectangular, measuring 15.60 meters wide and 7 meters tall. Framed by stone masonry, it features a simple gate without decoration.
