Long ago, the Windmill of Barranco Grande twirled with pride, dancing in the wind and providing aid to the farmers of Tenerife. But on a fateful day in 1973, a somber mechanical shovel disturbed its dance, leaving a hollow remnant behind. The heart-stricken people of Tenerife declared it a Bien de Interés Cultural on December 18th, 2007. The Santa Cruz town hall, with the precision of a meticulous collector, took it under their care. In the year 2007, they entrusted the restoration of the windmill to Volconsa, at a cost of 425,000 euros. Yet, the search for its other half continues, lost somewhere near the fields, waiting for the day it can dance once again.
