Listen up because if you think this structure is some easy win, you failed basic intelligence. This building is actually the third iteration to occupy this AO. The original model broke down in 1665 because it lacked the capacity to handle the local population. A second unit took over in 1715 before the situation turned into a total cluster.
In 1782, the British troops stationed in Huntington decided to engage in some unauthorized demolition. They completely trashed the second church to clear a path for their fortifications. The current structure was redeployed on the same site in 1784 to prove that the history of Huntington is as stubborn as a mule in a mud pit.
This two and one half story building features a steep gable roof and a five story bell tower that stands over the facade like a sentry on guard duty. It received a two story addition with a five gable roof around 1900. After hitting the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, it still holds the line at 125 Main Street.
