Situated in La Rochelle, France, the Chain Tower, one of three medieval towers, was built in 1384. Its standout attribute was a chain stretching across the port entrance from the tower itself, serving as a guard post at various points in history. The structure, much like its neighbouring Saint Nicolas Tower, has continued to stand since the 14th century. Over time, the building was also used to safeguard gunpowder. Classified as a Monument historique (MH) by the French government in 1879, the tower continues to stand.
