The So-called Child Building: From Swedish Navy Base to Asian Antiquities Museum

The so-called 'Child Building' is situated on the Skeppsholmen peninsula in central Stockholm, Sweden. It was one of the initial key construction projects for the Swedish navy, completed in 1663. Unfortunately, it was damaged by fire just four years into service. After being used as a naval base for only four years, the navy was relocated to Karlskrona in 1680, leaving the building unused. Over the years, it has served various purposes, including housing the homeless and stables. It was converted into an arsenal in the 1720s. Today, the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities is housed within its walls.
