Moderna Museet: A Modern Wander Through Art and History

Moderna Museet is a state-funded institution in Stockholm, Sweden dedicated to showcasing modern and contemporary art and design. Opened in 1958, the museum houses an extensive collection, including pieces by Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí, among others. The museum has faced controversies, such as the 1993 theft of six Picasso and two Braque works. In 2005, former museum director Pontus Hultén bequeathed over 700 works of art to the museum, and many can be found in the purpose-built Pontus Hultén Study Gallery. The museum also boasts a sculpture park with pieces from artists of diverse nationalities. Today, Moderna Museet shares its premises with the Swedish Centre for Architecture and Design and is hosting the Brassaï. The Secret Signs of Paris exhibition until October 4, 2026.
