Little Norway Museum: A Taste of Norway in Wisconsin's Heartland

Bet you've never thought of Wisconsin as a hotspot for Norwegian culture, but Buckle up, buttercup! We're taking you there.

Bootscoot on over to Little Norway Museum, a genuine piece of history, splat bang in the middle of Blue Mounds, Wisconsin. Erected in 1937, this bad boy was the brainchild of Isak J. Dahle, a Norwegian-American chap, who had the grand idea in 1927. Ever since, it's been a magnet for wanderlusters from far and wide. One of the main attractions is The Norway Building, a dead ringer for a medieval Norwegian stave church, shipped over from Orkdal, Norway for the 1893 National Exposition in Chicago. In its heyday, it was a private family hideaway, but in 1998, it landed a spot on the National Register of Historic Places. Although it's a bit quieter these days, swing by, and you'll get a taste of Viking times, no kiddin'!
