The large stone bridge with three arched spans was erected in the 1790s. The architect is presumably Brenna. The authorship was indicated by characteristic decorative details used by the architect in his other buildings. The three-span bridge was adorned with a balustrade. From here, there was a beautiful view of the White Lake and the park.

The stone arched bridge over the White Lake channel was built in 1797. The architect's name is unknown, but most likely it was V. Brenna. The authorship of Brenna was indicated by characteristic decorative details used by the architect in his other buildings. The work was carried out under the supervision of the master stonemason D. Visconti. Apparently, the bridge was constructed simultaneously with the Small Stone Bridge on the Circular Road in place of a previously existing wooden bridge. Like the Small Stone Bridge, the Large Bridge was built from local limestone tufa: Chernitsky and Pudost. In the 18th century, the bridge was called the bridge opposite the dam or the Large Bridge in the Aglinsky Garden. The bridge’s railings were stone balustrades made of Pudost stone with shaped balusters. According to the original design, the bridge was supposed to be decorated with sculptures — four figures of centaurs on the abutments and four figures of satyrs on cylindrical pedestals on the intermediate supports, but due to the death of Emperor Paul I, this idea was not realized. The total length of the bridge was 32 meters, the width — 9.6 meters, the height of the arch above the water (central span) — 2.9 meters.
In 1842, the bridge was repaired by architect Baikov. In 1887, a major overhaul of the bridge was carried out according to the project of architect Dmitriev. It was rebuilt from local stone on Portland cement, with the installation of concrete balusters to replace the damaged ones. The brick arch was left old, but three rows of springing stones were laid under it on each side. In 1939, architect Krasovsky made measured drawings of the Large Stone Bridge.
In the winter of 1944, the bridge was blown up by the Germans when leaving the city. The explosion completely destroyed the central span, damaging the arches of the smaller spans. After the war, in 1948, according to the project of architects Putkevich and Kedrinsky, the central span was covered with a temporary wooden span with railings made of birch poles. In 1954 and 1971, work was carried out to locate and raise debris from the bottom of White Lake. In 1956, measurements of the surviving structure of the bridge were made. In 1970, a project for the restoration of the Large Stone Bridge was developed, but the restoration was never carried out. To date, the bridge is in a ruined state. In January 2022, the bridge was closed for restoration work.
