Hörle herrgården: Stucco Brick Deviation in Sweden's Woodland Region

Hörle herrgården, also known as Hörle castle, sits on the banks of the Lagan river near the village of Hörle in Värnamo socken, Värnamo commune, Jönköping county. Construction began in the early 1700s when Justus Baak, a Dutchman, bought Tabergs bruk in 1652 and built a stångjärnshammare (a type of iron mill) in Hörle in 1659. This industrial activity led to the construction of Hörle herrgården. The manor was designed by architect Bengt Wilhelm Carlberg, one of the great architects of the time.

Interior design was handled by Carl Hårleman, with door overstones painted by Swedish court painter Johan Pasch. The manor underwent a comprehensive renovation, both exteriorly (1990s) and interiorly (2010s), with assistance and support from the regional authority and the National Board of Antiquities. Hörle herrgården was listed as a building of interest in 1992. Today, the manor is used for events such as weddings, conferences, and cultural events, including Galerie Hörle's gallery activity.
