In the heart of the village of Norton St Philip, Somerset, England lies The George Inn. Originally built as a wool store for Hinton Priory, it offered temporary shelter to travelers and merchants attending the annual wool fairs. Over time, this historic building evolved, serving as the headquarters of Monmouth’s army during the Monmouth Rebellion in 1685. However, in November 2020, The George Inn was acquired by Butcombe Brewery and is no longer an operating pub and accommodation. Today, it stands as a testament to the rich history and hospitality of England.
