Four interconnected buildings, constructed by Berge Olofsson Ström on Riddarholmen in central Stockholm in the 1750s, were initially home to an auction house for the poor – known as Gamla Auktionsverket. Olofsson Ström also owned the neighboring Schering Rosenhanes palats. Auktionsverket moved out in the 1950s, and since 1997, Sweden’s Supreme Court and Ministry of Justice have occupied the four buildings. The oldest building, Gamla Auktionsverket, has been transformed and is now the main building for the court and ministry.
