Överkommissariens hus, built in the 1750s by Carl Hårleman for Berge Olofson Ström, is a significant building in Stockholm's Riddarholmen. Initially serving as the residence and office for Generalassistanskontoret, a secret service organization, it grew to include a top floor and sea-facing façade during renovations in the 1850s. The overkommissarie resided there until its dissolution, after which Drätselnämndens arkiv moved in. Merging with Rådhusarkivet, it later became Stockholms stadsarkiv. Överkommissariens hus was based on Riddarholmen until 1943 when it was moved to Kungsholmen. From 1949, the state owned Överkommissariens hus again, undergoing a significant renovation for Kammarkollegiet between 1950 and 1954 with designs by architect Cyrillus Johansson.
