Stolen Tritons of Halmstad: Unveiling Carl Milles' *Europa och Tjuren*

Carl Milles’ *Europa och Tjuren* is a cherished sculpture in Sweden. Unveiled on November 7, 1926, at Stora Torg in Halmstad, this marked Milles’ first monumental sculpture in a public space. However, in 1956, the tritons were stolen and eventually replaced. Today, a replica of the fountain can be found at Millesgården on Lidingö, while smaller versions reside at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Indoor versions have also been installed in Tranås, replacing the originals.
