The Adolf Fredrik Church in central Stockholm, Sweden, is named after Adolf Frederick. It was built in 1768, replacing the wooden Saint Olof Chapel from 1674. René Descartes was first buried here in 1650, before his remains were moved to France. A memorial to Descartes was installed by Gustav III inside the church. The church has also been the final resting place for several notable Swedes, including Prime Ministers Olof Palme and Hjalmar Branting, physicist Carl Benedicks, and composer Anders Eliasson. The current pastor of the church is Ted Harris.
