The Oversized, Bronze Blunder of Brighton: Decision Pending

The Oversized, Bronze Blunder of Brighton: Decision Pending

For over a decade, a five-foot, 20-inch wide, bronze sculpture, dubbed the 'Ugly Naked Guy,' has caused a ruckus in Brighton, Michigan, planted smack dab on the north side of Main Street.

Decision Pending, a creation of Detroit artist, Jay Holland, stands tall in Brighton as part of the Brighton Sculpture Project. It's not your average, run-of-the-mill sculpture, neither too small nor too large. Instead, it's an incredible anomaly, an unwelcome guest that's unsettling the neighborhood since its arrival in 2006.

While it may be 20 inches wide, it seems to occupy a much larger space in the discussions of Brighton's residents, often gracing the pages of the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus.
