In the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts, stands the Dearborn School at 25 Ambrose Street. This three-story brick Beaux Arts school was built in 1905 and designed by Roxbury native Edwin James Lewis Jr. It was named in honor of Boston mayor Henry A. S. Dearborn.
The building served as an elementary or middle school until the 1980s. Since then, it has been converted into apartments. It remains the only building to survive a c. 1950 urban redevelopment of the area.
The Dearborn School was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. It stands as a surviving piece of the city's history amidst the evolution of the surrounding neighborhood.
