A Grade II* listed building, Knebworth House has been a residence of the Lytton family since the early 15th century, when it was originally constructed as a red-brick manor house. In the 19th century, it underwent considerable changes, with John Biagio Rebecca remodeling the house in a Tudor Gothic style in 1813-16 and Henry Edward Kendall Jr. transforming it in 1843-1845 into the present Tudor Gothic structure. The house is also associated with numerous famous figures, including Edward Bulwer-Lytton, the Victorian author, and Grand Duke Michael Alexandrovich of Russia. Today, the house and its gardens serve as a popular filming location and play host to the annual Knebworth Festival, featuring a lineup of legendary rock and pop artists.
