A sacred journey to a UNESCO World Heritage Site: The Sacro Monte di Ossuccio

Step back in time and discover the Sacro Monte di Ossuccio, a 17th-century religious complex carved into a prealpine crag, overlooking Lake Como. It boasts intricate Baroque architecture and is dedicated to La Beata Vergine del Soccorso.

The Sacro Monte di Ossuccio, located in the small village of Ossuccio, is one of the nine sacri monti in northern Italy that were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list in 2003. Constructed between 1635 and 1710, this religious complex features fourteen chapels that reflect the Baroque style and the Counter Reformation ethos. These chapels, including the pre-existing sanctuary of 1532, dedicated to La Beata Vergine del Soccorso, are joined by a path that leads to the summit of the complex. The complex is located 200 meters above the western shore of Lake Como, offering a panoramic view of the lake and the surrounding landscape.
