A perpetual flame in honor of those lost

The Monument in Memory of the Victims of the COVID-19 Pandemic, originally fueled with propane cylinders, has been changed to gas to keep the flame perpetual. Designed by Carlos Rubio Carvajal, the monument has become a permanent tribute to the people lost during the pandemic. The sculpture, which stands at the intersection of Alcalá Street and Prado Walk, is made of black steel. A circular piece nearly two meters in diameter rests on a prism, with the inscription 'Vuestra llama nunca se apagará en nuestro corazón' on it. The same inscription also appears on a plaque mounted in front of the monument. Once intended as a temporary tribute, the municipality decided to keep the flame burning indefinitely, remembering the victims of the pandemic.
